Aragorn…

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

I definately expected a lot more with this film…Yet it was a dissapointment…But still it was watchable albeit the terrible and predictable dialogue…the acting was ok only…jeremy irons was the only one with the ebst performance though…he was good…the directing was bad and so was the editing…could have way much better…the special effects too were just average…nevertheless, a good movie for the family…

6 out of 10 i guess…

DON…

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

Its been a long time since i saw a hindi film…and everyone was talking so much about Don…when i say everyone, im referring to those people who normally watch Hindi films…Don is a remake of an earlier Hindi movie…Starring Shah Rukh Khan and former miss universe Priyanka Chopra, i found the film rather interesting…the plot was good but i strongly felt it could have been better…The movie which was shot almost 80% in Malaysia was actually a boost for our tourism industry i guess…And as usual, the Malaysian Police were made to look like fools in the movie…But still, the stunts really seemed to amused me…i didnt know a Hyundai Sonata can go way much faster than a Mahindra Scorpio on dirt road…hehe…Lots of intertextuality…Basically it had Con Air, Face Off, Swordfish and others…

However, Shah Rukh Khan’s acting didnt seem to amused me…He cant play a gangster…its just not him…But anyway, its the media…

I give it 6 out of 10…

The Departed…

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

I have seen many gangster films like The Untouchables, The Godfather and so on and i have also seen many of Martin Scorsese’s films as well like Gangs of New York which was my favourtie, The Last Temptation of Christ, Aviator, etc…But i must say The Departed was way beyond my expectation…I know its something like Infernal Affairs but i think there is more to it…The characters were potrayed by such amazing actors…

Frank Costello played by Jack Nicholson was amazing…I wont be surprised if he gets a nomination in the upcoming Golden Globe or maybe an Oscar nomination for his performance…It is a proven fact that most of the actors that work with Scorsese have been nominated and won Oscars…The cinematography was a bit different but i liked it…The soundtrack, well Howard Shore could have done better…And i was surprise that Brad Pitt was also involved in the production of this film…He was one of the producers…as for the main characters, Leonardo and Matt Damon did a splendid job…

And I loved the dialogue…Purely Boston Gangster Cop style…Luckily i never saw it in cinema for it would have been sensored a lot…the bottomline is that The Departed is definately a strong contender for awards…Joanne says DejaVu is the movie of the year but i find The Departed better…

i give it 9.5 out of 10…

I love the ending…

Back in town…

hello everyone…

im back in campus…summer school has started…i’ve got the feeling that its gonna be fun…had my first class today which seemed ok…the lecturer was nice and the topic didnt seem very hard too…well lets hope it remains that way…

while i was away, many things happen which im sure u guys know of…interestingly we scored the first goal against chelsea which i think was simply marvelous…i mean i expected us to lose but hey a draw aint that bad…

not really in a blogging mood right now…so i’ll keep it short…and please go watch dejavu if u aint seen it yet…and i know some of u guys will get confused…jo told me its tony scott’s best film and i guess she’s right…it is his best film to date…ive seen most of his films…but i guess his bro, ridley is still better…in the end, i would say the credit should go to my favourite producer, jerry bruckheimer…i mean his the man with all those amazing stunt ideas…

thats all for now…
