The Guardian…

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

people told me this was going to be a boring film…i didnt find that so…in fact it was a nice movie…good story but the acting kind of spoiled it…kevin costner wasnt really able to show his emotions in his acting while asthon kutcher tried to do some good acting but it wasnt convincing enough…the special effects and directing was rather good…soundtrack was ok…but i felt that the story could have been better…kevin costner dies in the end which i kind of expected in the start of the film but i didnt like the way he died…it could have been made better…u dont have that feeling as to when u see other heroes die like bruce willis in armegeddon which was a real touching scene, in the guradian, well its just one of those movies where those heroes dies…

my rating 6.8 out of 10

Pathfinder…

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Do not watch this movie if u dont know anything about vikings or red indians…cos seriusly, my housemate was so confused when we watched it….i on the other hand loved this movie…well it wasnt the best of all action films but the fighting sequences were good and violent enough…and i must say it did portray the vikings in the right way and as well as the indians…so it wasnt really a twist of history or anything…the storyline makes complete sense although some felt that the film was a little draggy…i found it ok…not too long and not too short…loved the cinematography…soundtrack was ok but didnt have the effect i was lookign forward too…however still better than eragon…

my rating 6.5 out of 10…

The Golden Globes…

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Well i wasn’t really able to watch it live but i was rather impress with the winners…finally, martin scorsesse won the best director award for the departed which was good enough i guess…i did like the way that movie was directed…babel won best drama film…ive seen it already and it is a bit draggy although it was good and i still felt that departed or bobby was better…seen both as well…as for the acting categories, i guess all winners deserved their win with some first time winners…

now to the television series, hugh laurie won again for house…yay…thats all i care about…i dont really watch the other series but hugh laurie and house rocks…now that the globes are over, its time to look forward for the oscars…

in another event, i saw flight 93…good movie i must say…its shows the events that happen in that plane and how the passengers fought back…good movie…if ur into stuff about september 11, go watch it…

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

3 of my friends celebrated and will be celebrating their birthdays…They are Kim Cheong Fai from Monash University, Eric Lee Teck Seng University and Victoria Saw Bee Bee from Monash University…mmm…

Kim - 21st birthday…well, i think he finally got his key to philosophy…girls, he is still single i think…and he’s tall and he plays basketball…and he’s a fotosintesis…and he loves question marks and of course he loves girls…

Eric - 21st birthday as well…still single and available to some…lives in australia so if any of u fancy a trip there, contact him…he will take u there for free…nice guy to talk too…likes matured and well manared girls i think…

Bee Bee - 22nd birthday…and she got a nice present too i heard…be her bf and she might so it to u…nice happy girl…i mean happy…all the time happy…there is no sad in the dictionary of bee…but when she is sad, i think the whole world sad…she loves to laugh…so if u can make her laugh and i mean not tickle her ok, u might be lucky…guys that smell good are definately an added advantage…but if u smell like roti canai or nasi ayam, dont bother…and if any of u think u guys look like clive owen or jude law, please see her immidately…

that’s all i have to say…

once again , happy belated and happy birthday to all of u…

Rocky Balboa

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

I know this movie has yet to be released in the country but i was able to get a download of it and watch it…i had always been a fan of rocky…loved all the films…i dont know how many of u guys have seen rocky but i loved the fights he had with apollo creed, hulk hogan and mr.T…

anyways, rocky balboa is much better movie some say and i feel it too…the story is writen in a way which kind of fills in the years we missed rocky…the first hour is basically dialogue and the fight only kicks in later…i liked the ending…look out for a cameo of mike tyson too…

and i love this line, "You, me or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much can you take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! "

good enough, the itallian stallion has once agian made the audiences feel the glory of rocky…

my rating, 7.5 out of 10…

PS:look out for another rocky coming soon to monash…

Night in A Museum…

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

Wat can i say…Ben Stiller still has the abilities to get the audience going well…A very good movie indeed…A nice family movie which i think evryone will enjoy…The story is rather simple and easy to understand…And as usual, only the guys in our row of seats could get the verbal jokes…kinda odd…cos most of the time we were the ones laughing…

at first only me jon and hiu li went to see…and we got a call from mr.lee teck seng a.k.a eric…he joined us too…and his birthday is tomorrow…back to the movie, be prepared to see an actor who was not listed in the cast…haha…he was one of the funniest…good movie for the family…no wonder its no.1 in us for 3 weeks in a row…

my rating, 7 out of 10.

Sinking Of Japan…

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

i wasn’t really into japanese films really but the title of this film made me wanting to know wat this film was about really…so i checked out the website which was in japanese…didnt understand anything…den i read a bit of the synopsis…its about the island of japan sinking and stuff like that…anyways, decided to watch the movie…

saw it today alone…just decided too…and i dont regret it at all…im glad i watched it…this is a real good movie…i mean i coudlnt think of any better film to start 2007…from start to finish, intense special effects…loved it…now the plot is rather good and it makes perfect sense…the special effects were also very good…the acting was ok…but i liked the effects and plot the most…it made sense…

so the story is about japan…as we know japan is made up of a couple of islands…and in the movie, which was based on a novel, and is also a remake of the 1970s hit, japan is sinking…yup…earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic erruptions…why?…cos japan is seated on the volcanic belt and plates that are sinking…it makes lots of sense really…i liked the way how they portray the americans which was so true…

its been a long time since ive been emotional in movies…but this movie definately will make a lot of people sad…i wasnt the only one ok…being a malaysian and watching japan sink is sad…i mean the japanese people have no where to go…most countries dont take them in…but be on a look out for malaysian airlines…apparently i guess we offered help…haha…feels good…but its a real touching story to see the people of japan with no motherland…some dont want to leave…millions are dead…and this is something which can happen…

i loved the way the film ended…it showed the survivors being rescued of wat was left of japan…and in the background, the sun rises and ray of light touches on them, i.e. land of the rising sun…like that scene…lots of other interesting scenes and conversations as well…

i give it an 8 out of 10…but if ur gonna watch it, please be prepared to see lots and lots of disasters and deaths…

i think its a must watch for all japanese…cos it will definitely create the spirit of nationalism…

Make Up Fever?

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

Today’s article on NST was rather interesting…Girls and Makeup…now thats nothing new…i mean almost all girls use make up…but the shocking thing is malaysians spent an annual RM1.2 billion in cosmetics…thats billion not million…for what?…to look good?…people looking good is just a social construction…every one’s beautiful the way they are…if u think its for getting the guys, well i remember reading in the papers some time ago about a survey conducted and most men prefer girl with no make up…and im talking about make up…RM1.2 billion on make up?!!!…den wat about perfumes?…

The article states that girls start as early as 14 but i think its much earlier…i can see it from my 13 year old cousin who spends more time in front of the mirror than anyone else in my family…and im also not surprise women do it till their 70…my grandmother who is 70 years old, still puts make up even when she sits at home…

But why?…arent they happy with the way they look?…does growing old make one lose their beauty?…does putting lipstick for a young girl shows adulthood?…does having white hair make u ugly?…does being dark not cool?…

PEOPLE!!! THIS ARE ALL A SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION!!! The ones making profit are the companies producing all this and with their excellent advertising skills…Im not saying its bad to put make up…Thats up to the individual…different types of skin react differently towards makeup…but, why put make up when u can look naturally beautiful?…and dont think those models u see in those advertisements are really beuatiful…they have been edited a gazillion times…arent u guys proud of how you really look?…why hide yourself?….

I know of somefriends of mine who are not into make up as well or at least i dont see them with too much make up…just the normal lip gloss…but there are those who use moisturizing creams, whitening creams, wei keat’s cream, all kinds of cream…remember no one in this world is ugly…being ugly and beutiful is a mere construction…who are those people who set the rule that being fair is pretty?…having smooth skin is nice?…they are nobody but bloody blood sucking business people…they dun care…in the end they get their profit…

1.2 billion is a lot of money spent on make up…we cant donate a few cents to the blind men who comes to our table in the mamak, the mother who sells tissue in the bus station with her child on her lap, the crippled guy who sells wooden art craft in jalan telawi bangsar, the homeless guy sitting by the bus stop and many more but we can spend 1.2 billion on looking good…to these people, looking good is nothing to them…to them, collecting a few ringgit a day for a decent meal is good enough…

"This is sad as young people are not developing any depth of personality but are comfortable with being superficial." said a phsycologist in the article…very true indeed…nothing but superficial…deep down behind all those makeup, ur still gonna be yourself…The media, she said, played an important role as it sent subtle
messages that a person with bad skin and average looks does not deserve
attention…very true indeed as well…sadly, we are just not aware of this…remember there is nothing wrong if u dont look like those people in the posters and advertisements…

so the next time u use make up, u might want to consider your looks…maybe some of u might look better without make up…and as for guys, well i dont think any of us use make up besides cologne and the normal guy things…
