A weekend in Kl…

Like i said, filming was supposed to start soon…and it was supposed to start for friday…and it would have if it wasnt for silly Kelvin Raj…as i left campus on saturday, i told him not to forget to pack the camera while i went to buy him breakfast…when i came back and i asked him he said he already did…and we left…when i was halfway through on the way to ampang, he suddenly screamed saying he forgot the camera…and i was so pissed off…however, we didnt go back for it…anyways the weekend continued…went to uncles house in ampang…they were going to a wedding in parkroyal kl and my bro and i were not invited…anyways the food there sucked…so we decided to tag a long and hang out there…so when we arrived, i first went to Sg.Wang plaza…and it was my first time there actually and i hate that place…it was so bloody crowded…i mean u cant even walk in or once u go in, u cant come out…but this was the excat situation i wanted to film…people shopping as part of wat being malaysian is all about…i could see people bargaining in hp shops, clothes chops, toy shops…almost everyshop and it was so crowded…it would have been a nice shot there…

after finding the nearest exit and getting out, we went to times square…and while walking to times square, i noticed a lot of beggars and homeless people on the streets…50 years on independence and we still have this? but wait…this beggars are making a lot of money…ok some of them are a bit sad to see though…my bro and i just stood there and looked at them for a few minutes…first there was this guy with no legs…he was lying down on the road with a cup…some threw in notes and some coins…those who threw in big notes like RM5, RM10 and RM50, he would  take it and put it in his pocket…now in like 5 minutes of observation, i saw like 10 people putting in RM10 and a lady putting in RM50…and my bro and i just stared at each other with "the look"…damn this guy must be making about RM500 a day easily…and den there was this old woman…now she looked really sad…she sat down with a small plastic bag and put her head down…she didnt look at those who put money for her…and she had quite a lot of money in her bag…so many RM10 notes…den a good soul cam and told her to put the money in her bag or something…and later we watching some street performance by a group of brazillians doing their martial arts…and as i was watching, a girl…a young girl about 5 years old came and pulled my shirt…i looked down towards her…"pak cik, pak cik…"she cried out and then put out her arm…i was like so shock to see this…a 5 year old girl begging for money? at first i didnt know wat she wanted…i looked around to see if she was with someone and saw no one…she just looked at me with a sad face and i looked at her…and den she walked off…i didnt gave her anything…instead i looked for where she was going…she ran to her mum a few metres away from me…she was carrying a baby with her…and they walked away…50 years on independence? … hmmm….makes me wonder…this were the stuff i wanted to record…this stuff which most of us fail to realize…

we went to times square trying to get some dinner…we went to mcdonalds…and this one is something i am definately going to write up to the newspapers…the mcdonalds in times square is so small…i mean im at the biggest shopping complex in the country and it has the smallest mcdonalds ever…the crowd was so huge…so huge that my bro and i lost our appetite…and the we could not find KFC or pizzahut…where the hell were those guys? i den realized their information was wrong…if u look at the directory it says 5th floor - fast food outlets…so that mean the 5th floor is where the fast food outlets are…but then, they were all located in different floors…hmmm…another interesting stuff that could have been recorded…
anyways, we then ate in chicken rice shop sadly….and later went back to the hotel and came home…

now on sunday, we went to bangsar as usual…went to BSC first and collected my first angpow…yay…haha…it was very kind of my auntie’s bost to give me an angpow although i hardly know her…anyways, after that, we went to bangsar pasar malam…now this was another good place to film…the pasar malam was full of people and once again full of beggars…this time there were families just sitting on the ground doing nothing…oh btw, i saw a husband wife and 2 kids sleeping on the streets in kl…that was very sad to see…back to bangsar, there was this guy with a huge cut on his leg…and he was seated there collecting money…and again, people in bangsar very generous…so all give money la…i think i should go into the beggar business also…

im not saying that to insult beggars…but have any of u guys wonder where this guys live and how they come there?…i remember in ipoh bus station, there used to be this lepper man who goes around collecting money…how he comes there? every moring, a car comes and drops him off at about 7am…and he starts his job…this people i mentioned above, some of them have really sad tales and i pity them…but some of them are making money out of this…they are cheating us…if u have a cut on ur leg, go to the hospital…they will help u…if ur homeless go to the welfare office…they will help u…if u dont have any limbs, go to welfare as well…the government does provide benefits are so they say to these people…

we are approaching 50years of independence really soon…and if stuff like this cant be handle easily, den how the hell can we say we are really "independent"? there are still a lot of people out there who are experiencing hell but whether the government knows this or not, i dont know…and whether they giva a damn about it or not, i dont know…but we cant depend always on private NGOs to help…they can help a bit but not all…this is why sometimes communism is kinda good cos it equals the distribution of wealth…democracy?…haha…we shall wait and see…

Ive heard news that Youth Malaysia is going to go on a nationwide roadtour or roadshow or someting…i think this is the time they really get the youth to speak…go everywhere and see how many of them give a damn about politics, entertainment and stuff like that…to them, making a days earnings is more then enough…and we shall see how democratic it will be…

END…
