The News…

Monday, January 28th, 2008

Hello,

You’re watching The Star News Update…
I’m Aaron Raj…

it may have seemed easy but it was the dumbest and scariest thing i ever did…i dont think i ever wanna read the news again…

it all started when the news reader called in saying she cant make it…den, my producer ask me to read…but i said i havent shaved and im not dressed properly…and it so happens, one of the staff carries a razor in his car…and he brings it for me to shave…damn…so i shaved in the star toilet…weird…next, i had no coat to fit me…it was to small…i say find someone else but they insisted i do it…eventually, i had to wear a huge jacket which made me look like some pervetic inspector from fleet street…

and then the news came…standing behind the camera and standing in front of the camera are 2 different things…behind the camera is cool…in front of the camera, i am terrible…so many lights…i couldnt do it…eventually i read the news after 3 takes and it still sounded bad…i was so nervous i could have shit myself…

damn…if u guys wanna see how bad i was, go to the star website and watch the news…grab some popcorn and have a good laugh…and yes, i know i was reading too fast and bad pronounciation….

need to get me eyes check…

and another scary thing is,

Manchester United vs Arsenal for the FA cup 5th round…

worried i am…

In Wenger I trust…

And the portfolio grows…

By the time i finish my internship with the star, i would have gained enough experience to start my own news channel…haha…day by day, im learning more new stuff, meeting more people and most importantly, feeling good about it…it may have been a real busy week for me but i realized, i learned a lot…from batu caves to vip funerals to fashion shoots…what else can i ask for?

Valentine’s day is coming…i dont know if i should really look forward to it…i think i should…for the simple reason, i have been asked to do a story on valentine’s day for the website…another aaron raj production for the star…a friend of mine told me to look at it as experienced so next time i will know what to do…anyways, i will be needing to interview couples for valentines day…so any u guys who think u all will be doing something special or planning to do something special on valentine’s day, do let me know so i can put u guys in me video…

And im also glad that my Philippines documentary is finally coming to an end…after almost a month since my return from Baguio and Sagada, the video is 95% completed…I will be in uni on Monday or Tuesday to complete the recording…

Besides that, i watch Sweeney Todd yesterday with Joanne…Great film i must say…enjoyed it a lot…it was good to meet JOanne after a long time…she hardly recognize me i must say…haha…maybe i need a haircut…should make an appointment with Mr.Todd…

And last but not least, after a terrible defeat at white hart lane last week, we’re back in business with a massive 3 - 0 victory to Newcastle…as for liverpool, the moment the visiting team scored the first goal, millions of bookies made money…i hate it when games are planned…

Before i sign off, you are all welcomed to donate money to the Help Aaron fund…moneys will be used to buy my ticket to North London…

cheers.

From Batu Caves to VIP Funerals…

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

The last 2 days have definately been the busiest and most exciting days of my life…

On Wednesday, it was Thaipusam…My australian intern friend and i went to Batu Caves…took the train there…although it wasnt as crowded as i expected it to be, it was very tiring…we climbed all the way to the top to shoot a few scenes and get down to interview people and do lots of other interesting stuff…overall, it was a good shoot…but it was really tiring…

Yesterday, i was supposed to go to Central Market to shoot the shop thats selling the Lingam shirts…Unfortunately, one of the ministers died…had to go shoot his funeral…first time im actually attending a muslim funeral…a lot of VIPs were present…Big names include Najib, Samy Vellu, Liong Sik, Ka Ting, Perak MB, Melaka Yang Di Pertua, KJ and of course the biggest honour for me was to film the Raja Muda of Perak…he came also…i really enjoyed the experience…being pushed by body guards and other cameraman just to get a good shot…this is what being a reporter is all about i guess…my only regret is that i couldnt film former PM Tun Dr.Mahatir…by the i came, he had left…damn…well, at least i got to film his wife at the cemetary…Some of the VIPs were friendly…there was this one guy…i cant remember his name but very familiar…he spoke to me, asked about me course and all…what he should have asked is whether i needed any scholarship fundings…haha…

anyways, i enjoyed myself…tiring but fun…and since most of my staff are on emergency leave, im now the official stand by cameraman…haha…well, in other words, im more like a full time staff compared to an intern…they already want me to extent my intern so i can be around for elections…lets see how it goes…

end.

Eric Lee Teck Seng…

Monday, January 21st, 2008

went out with an old friend yesterday…me, chun hor and mr.eric lee teck seng…it’s been a year since i last saw him…and probably another year till i see him again…

it was a good reunion…although it was only 3 of us…we had dinner, some drinks and mamak…it was nice catching up with this fellow after such a long time…he’s 90% still the same but has changed a little…

but i guess its not how u change that matters, its how strong ur friendship is that matters…metting this guy after a year, i thought i wont be able to communicate with him like before, but, the 3 of us were just like old times…it was as if he never left malaysia…

eric, next time we meet, remember what we agreed ok…

For Grandma…

Monday, January 21st, 2008

The day i feared most finally came…on friday the 18th of January, my grandmother died…it was the end of the suffering she went through for over a year…

When i saw her, she seemed so calm and peacefull…in one way, im glad that she has to suffer no more…it was a nice funeral…lots of people came…i think she is really blessed as she had so many groups of people coming and praying…one after the other…

Sadly, i feel pity looking at my grandfather…the moment my grandma died, my grandfather had a heart attack…it was a mild attack…he was supposed to get admited but he refused to…i hoep he gets well…i dun know how i’ll be if he goes as well…

But i was very dissapointed with the Catholic Church…especially my church in Ipoh…the priest refused to allow me to do a eulogy for my grandma in the church…i had to do it at home…and he also refused to allow us to open the casket in the church to allow those who came to church to view…some new rulling apparently…

anyways, im sure my grandma will be rewarded for all her good deeds in heaven…its sad she wont be around to see me graduate…but i know she will be watching over me from up there with my dad…

end…

filming celebrities…

Monday, January 14th, 2008

today, i took another step further in my career…i filmed an entire talk show with 3 guests…and the 3 guests were celebrities…one director, one actor and one actress…the actor is non other than rosyham nor…yup…malaysia’s favourtie actor and hero…it was an amazing experience…he may not be an international superstar, but i think it a lucky chance to interview one of the nation’s most favourite actors…

they spoked about their new film…apparently, it’s malaysia’s first noir film in 34 years…sounds interesting…

but the thing i enjoyed most was being behinid the camera and filming the entire 40 minute talkshow…tiring, but it was a wonderful experience…had to track and pan the cameras left, right, up and down all the time…i guess this is what studio productions is all about…

on a lighter note, i will start work at 6am tomorrow…filming the ponggal festival in temples and going cow hunting…sounds fun…hehe…

and on an even lighter note, i met rosy…rosy is the new intake in my department…she’s australian and she’s from the univeristy of sydney…very tall…taller than me…friendly though…but im not going to give her more than she anticipates…haha…she’ll be here 2 weeks…

and on the lightest note ever, part 1 of the documentary is being rendered…should be ready in 48 hours…

Match FIxing…

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

its no surprise to everyone which 2 big teams do it the most…Liverpool and Manchester United…sadly to say…

Although, looking at Liverpool’s current form, i dont know what is wrong with them…

But Manchester United, now thats something…they won 6 - 0 last night…and all 6 goals in the second half…how is this possible? Match fixing…

I mean how can u struggle so much in the first half and come back and score 6 goals? I dont think its because ur a great team…I think cos its been fixed…

How do i prove my theory, well, the bettings normally  close at half time…if its a goalless draw at half time, people would bet against the home team or maybe a small goal lead…Hence, the real winners are the betting companies…

I still remember in the world cup 2 years ago…they wanted England to lose or they had to pay out a whole lot of money…in this case, MU’s 6 goals must have made some few souls strike big but definately a lot others lose…

Whatever happened to pure clean football? i think that never existed…

Not that Arsenal and Chelsea are great teams, but looking at their style of play and their players, i think they are different…Chelsea is losing money while Arsenal is now the richest club in the world for not spending money on players and ticket sales…

Anyways, i must say that season’s tittle race is going to be really exciting…is going to be my young  gunners or the  red devils…

we shall wait and see…

Atonement…

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

By far the best film i have seen so far this year…A simple story but brilliantly made…i dont know if its based on true story or not but its damn good…

I love the cast which acted very well…the script was amazing…soundtrack made me speechless…who ever thought of using a typewriter to make the sounds….

i loved the cinematography…damn…those of u who watched it or planning to watch it, just look at the shots…amazing…i dont know how they did it but they did it…

and the twist at the end made me speechless…its one of those "wow" films…

really good…definately taking awards home…

my rating a 10 out of 10…

PS:it made me tear some parts…

Was it really a great night?

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

I left worked at 7.15pm hoping to reach Sunway by 8pm so i can pick my laundry go home, pick kat and go to the club…And i complain…

The big hype for this started on thursday when my newest clubbing partners, careen and jojo decided to check out this new club in pyramid…so we went…it was really nice…huge it was…nice seats and all…and later, we found out that friday was the opening day…and the best part is, free alcohol…woo hoo…called up a few others and prepared to go on Friday…

Back to Friday, left work and rushed home…was making good progress until i reached sunway…got stuck to come in to sunway and to go to kat’s house…i told careen 15 minutes…in the end, it took 45 minutes…

went to the club…got 1 free beer only cos it was so crowded…met bee, hiu and zeck…they were giving out lucky draws later…the first 5 names were all guys…so i asked careen, why arent any girls winning?…and the next thing that happen is, her name gets called…careen wins an IPOD…courtesy of Bar Celona and Aaron’s lucky charms…hehe…so, we partied like hell till 2.30…went to mamak after that…we were starving…regarding the club, i think its got good music but it can be improved…love how they start with a live band…and den RnB and some dance tunes…and end it with house and trance…coolness…

3pm arrived at the ever famous Jaafar mamak…ordered food…talking a while…hiu li was saying she never got to see people fight before…and then this drunk dude comes…orders his food and picks a fight with the shop guys…glasses broke and all…hiu got her wish…

we left after that…

so was it really a great night?
well, 2 of my friends got what they wanted…so i think it was a great night after all…
